Our Approach to Consultancy:

A Unique 4A Framework

At The Diversity Doctor, we believe in taking a distinctive and effective approach to our consultancy work. Regardless of the focus of the project, we always start with a comprehensive diagnosis phase.

We want to truly understand the specific issue and more specifically, the cause of the issue, so we can develop a comprehensive treatment plan, designed specifically for you.

Our philosophy and approach is rooted in a unique 4A framework: Acquaintance, Awareness, Action, and Accountability. This framework guides our work from the initial connection with a potential client to achieving sustainable impact in diversity and inclusion efforts.

1. Acquaintance - Our First Connection with You

This is where our journey with you begins. During the Acquaintance phase, we aim to learn more about you, your organization, and the specific D&I-related challenges you are facing. It's also an opportunity to determine if we are the right fit for your needs.

2. Awareness - Clarity and Purpose

In the Awareness phase, we help you gain clarity on what you want to achieve and why. It's about defining the goals and objectives of your diversity and inclusion initiatives. We work together to ensure that the objectives are aligned with your organization's broader aims and objectives.

3. Action - Transforming Awareness into Results

Action is where the rubber meets the road. During this phase, we work with you to turn your newfound awareness into tangible action. We assist you in setting up the right infrastructure, identifying education and training needs, and providing the support required to implement effective D&I strategies.

4. Accountability - Sustaining Impact for the Long Term

The journey from Awareness to Action often falls short without Accountability. Achieving deep-rooted change in the realm of diversity and inclusion takes time, commitment, and consistent effort. In the Accountability phase, we help our clients stay on track, providing the necessary support and resources to ensure the sustainability of their D&I efforts.

We’re not interested in simply putting a bandaid on an issue, because we know that this will, at best be a short-term fix.

We want to help you develop a systemic and sustainable approach to addressing issues of exclusion.

To this end our consultancy projects are uniquely tailored to the specific needs of each client.

While our approach is guided by the 4A framework, we understand that every organization is distinct.

Common themes in our consultancy projects include:

Conducting a D&I audit / health check.

To help you understand your current situation and build a business case for D&I. From this point we can also help you identify the key next steps.

Developing a D&I strategy.

In alignment with your broader company aims and objectives, we help you establish a D&I strategy that will enable you to create impact with your D&I efforts.

Addressing the leaking pipeline.

Many organisations are at the point of hiring more diversely, but may still struggle to retain diversity throughout their organisation. This phenomenon is often referred to as the leaking pipeline. We will help you identify and treat the cause of a leaking pipeline.

Cultural change projects.

Many organisations want to be innovative and adaptive but fail to understand that this is not possible without first establishing a culture of belonging. We work with small teams or business units or even entire organisations, to establish psychological safety, trust, respect and belonging. From these foundations, diversity of thought and innovation can flourish.

We believe in delivering solutions that go beyond short-term fixes, creating systemic and sustainable approaches to address issues of exclusion in your organization.
